Renault Scenic Review

The Renault Scenic was the first compact 5-seat MPV to appear in 1997, quickly followed by the Citroen Picasso and Vauxhall Zafira which had 7-seats. The Scenic had and still has one of the best thought out interiors. There's also a lot of thought gone into modern styling and driving pleasure.

Today you'll find the Renault Scenic for sale as a 5 or Grand 7-seater both with Expression or Dynamique trim and diesel/petrol engine options including a 1.4T. Automatic transmission is available.

Renault Scenic Dynamique additional equipment adds to the Expressions comfort features alloy wheels, automatic lights and wipers, Bluetooth, SatNav, hands free key card, sun blinds and added tint, folding height adjustable passenger seat and sporty trim.

The Renault Scenic 1.6 is the entry level engine. The recently upgraded Renault Scenic 1.5 dci is a viable option if mpg savings pay-back the added price of a diesel car and diesel fuel. There's also a new 1.6 dci with Stop & Start.

It's difficult to find very cheap car insurance for MPVs. It's best to collect separate car insurance quotes for each different model you consider. It's also worth your while to directly compare car insurance quotes online for yourself because the differences in quotes can be massive.

A second hand Renault Scenic is often a consideration especially for the more expensive models.  Near new Scenics are frequently available but a used Renault Scenic is more difficult to find especially the old Renault Scenic 1.9 dci. You should find Scenic interiors have stood up well to wear and tear.

Bear in mind these are laboratory fuel consumption figures for comparison purposes only and may not be the same as achieved on the road. It's not advisable to rank cars with similar differences as they may not appear on the road. On the road meaning infinite variations in driving styles and in road, car and weather conditions which all have a bearing on the results.

Also note many of the combined mpg figures were achieved with a 6-speed gearbox. The urban mpg may be a better match for your use.
