Hyundai i30 Review

The Hyundai i30 was announced in 2007 as a 5-door, 4/5-seat, front wheel drive, medium small family hatchback. It's been recently updated. The Hyundai i30 is a much better car than its entry price suggests plus ESP is standard and it's got a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.

The above figures are standard, mpg and emissions can be significantly improved with ISG - manual only. ISG is Stop and Go technology. When you stop, select neutral and remove your foot from the clutch, ISG will switch off the engine. It will start the engine when you depress the clutch.

You can see from the performance figures above the i30 has high maximum speeds across the range and sprightly acceleration.

Given all cars in the medium small class are of a similar size with similar interior and load space, what are the differences? I'll leave aside style and comfort as matters of personal taste.

The i30 is a value car but there's nothing cheap about it. Surveys prove the i30 has a very high level of reliability - better than most premium brands. Though competitors may talk about the value of their brand and quality.

The facts are the Hyundai brand enjoys one of the highest levels of customer satisfaction. I can't fault the build quality. The figures above make the i30 a highly competitive and efficient car. It scores well for both mpg and emissions, plus performance.

High levels of equipment, reliability, satisfaction and efficiency make for a quality car that can't be dismissed as cheap by competitors' salespeople.

Plus you've a 5-year warranty, 5-star Euro NCAP rating and importantly ESP is standard.

You might think the limited range of trim, engine and colour options a disadvantage. However, a vast array of options multiplied by manufacturers' many marketing programmes with all sorts of deals and offers can be confusing and used to walk you up the price range. By comparison buying a Hyundai i30 is straight-forward.
